The institute is spread across 138 acres of lush green area in the Garhi Cantt region of DehraDun. The campus located at a distance of just 5km from clock tower, DehraDun. Clock Tower is considered as centre point of DehraDun. 
RIMC has produced some of the great leaders for the country like governors, ambassadors, ministers and commander in chief Army etc. This is the boys only school. The entrance to this school is tough as it allows just 25 new joinees every six months. The entrance to the prestigious institute is through written exam, followed by Viva Voca and Medical exams. In order to prepare students for UPSC, social sciences are also taught. The curriculum is moulded to ensure the leadership skills are developed in the students right from the young age.
