Once in twelve years, Kumbhh Mela is celebrated in Haridwar and once in six years Ardh Kumbh Mela is celebrated. Lots of sadhus and visitors come to Haridwar in the month long Kumbh Mela.
It is believed that the king Vikramadatya constructed this ghat to perform meditation on the banks of river Ganga.
